How the election works in DM

Del artikel:

Members of the DM have an important vote in this year's elections. There are elections for the post of chairperson, the main board and the sector boards.

The chairperson

The chairperson is chosen by direct election and respresents DM's members to the public e.g. by participating in political negotiations and speaking out in the media.

After nine years as DM's chairperson, Camilla Gregersen has chosen to not run for reelection.

The two candidates for chairperson 2024 are Anne-Mette Wehmüller and Janne Gleerup.

The main board

The main board manages the daily political management of DM - for example by approving the budget and laying out an annual work programme.

The candidates run for election on so-called 'election lists'.

This year there are 8 lists with 55 candidates.

The sector boards

The sectors work for the pay-, working- and living conditions of the members on certain areas, e.g. the public sector.

New boards must be elected for DM's 9 sectors:

  • Civil society
  • Culture and Media
  • Leader
  • Public
  • Private
  • Vocational colleges, business academies and maritime education
  • Independent
  • Student
  • University

Each sector has between 5 and 16 board members

You can choose which sector board you vote for - even if you are associated with another sector. The election to the section board for DM Pensionist has been abolished by DM's congress with effect from the election in 2024.
