A network of Danish and international communication experts, now expanded to cover the entire field of diversity, equity, and inclusion
We are a diverse community that shares knowledge and experiences, providing insights into successful communication strategies and highlighting lessons learned from challenges faced.
Purpose of the network: We initially focused only on communication and interculturality.
The network idea was born out of necessity. In Denmark there were networks for translators and ordinary communication experts, but not a network that focused on both communication and cross-cultural issues.
Meeting after meeting, however, we realized that one cannot talk about cultural differences without involving other types of diversity, since integration is a 360-degree process.
As a result, we have slowly broadened our scope to embrace the entirety of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Now INTERCOM serves as a platform to discuss policies and programs promoting representation and participation across various dimensions, such as age, race, ethnicity, ability, disability, gender, religion, sexual orientation, obviously culture, and more.
Our goal is to foster connections, expand professional horizons, and delve into discussions that go beyond language and (not only cultural) integration.
Who can join the network?
We welcome a diverse range of professionals from all industries and sectors, including freelancers, self-employed individuals, and employees, regardless of nationality.
Whether you are an intercultural communicator (involved in any form of exchange or content creation for international audiences), a human resource professional, a DEI practitioner, a member of an underrepresented group, an educator or researcher, a leader or decision-maker, or a student in these subjects, you are welcome to join our inclusive community.
How does it work?
We basically hold the network meetings in the Copenhagen area, approximately every other month. But other locations are also an option.
In case of need, we can also hold online meetings.
The members of the network help to determine the themes for meetings.
As a participant, you must be ready to give small presentations about your own projects and give good advice and sparring to the others in the network.
