Twitter and LinkedIn for researchers

At this meeting you will be introduced to how you as a researcher find, produce and share content for Twitter and LinkedIn.

Most researchers use social media to some degree. But not many of them use social media strategically or professionally.

At this event for members you will be introduced to the systematic use of Twitter and LinkedIn.

The purpose is to increase the international reach and impact of your research and improve your career opportunities.

At universities, Twitter is the preferred social media platform for researchers. This is because it combines global networking with a high degree of specialisation. 

Off campus however, LinkedIn is the place where researchers can find collaboration partners and jobs. And the two platforms Twitter and LinkedIn work well together.

At the event you will be introduced to the finding, producing and sharing of content:

Finding content 

  • How you can set up personalized, automated systems to monitor and filter news for specific research areas

Producing content 

  • How you can use Twitter to do better networking at conferences and events, engage others in your own research, and think in recurring social media concepts

Sharing content

  • How you can use Twitter and LinkedIn to extend the reach and definition of your expertise area, and schedule tweets and posts so you can concentrate on what you do best

Instructor Mike Young is the former editor of the University Post at the University of Copenhagen. His company Mike Young Academy has done courses and workshops in social media in Denmark, Norway, Belgium and Switzerland.
